Fairfield City Council has adopted the Draft 2017-2021 Delivery Program and Draft 2017–2018 Operational Plan that outlines council’s plans for the next four years.
The program will see to the ongoing planning for the transformation of Fairfield Showground into a major community event space. There are plans to invest $8.5 million over the next four years for the staged redevelopment of the showground into a premier location for community festivals, events and sporting activities.
Some of the highlights for 2017-18 include:
- Dutton Plaza – start of detailed investigation leading to construction of an additional car park level over three years.
- Smithfield Road upgrade – upgrades of intersections and expanding parts of it to four lanes.
- Expansion of Aquatopia – expand facilities at the water park with new attractions.
- Bonnyrigg Town Centre Park – increase the number of car parking spaces.
The council also plans to renew footpaths and roads across the region, with plans to lay close to 46km of new and upgraded footpaths and upgrade 78km of roads, as well as improving intersections and bike paths.
