As the festive season kicks off and people start thinking about what to buy for loved ones this Christmas, consider what’s on offer at our wonderful local businesses.

Being big fans of Fairfield’s diverse range of shops and businesses, we strongly encourage locals to consider them first when doing their Christmas shopping.

We live in an extremely unique part of Sydney, with so many wonderful shopping experiences to offer, but if we want all this to stay we need to remember to support them when we can.

How often do you hear about favourite local businesses having to shut down because they aren’t sustainable for the owners? In many cases this wouldn’t happen if the local community got behind these businesses and supported them so they could stay in operation.

If we don’t support our favourite local business they then might not be able to stick around in the future.

Fairfield’s businesses are at the heart of our community, and when we support them we are helping the community at large.

Every dollar spent at a local business returning many times that amount to the local economy through things like employee wages, rates and the purchase of goods and materials. Many local businesses also support community clubs and organisations and help give back when they can.

Shopping locally has other benefits too, it’s good for the environment and it means that you don’t need to travel too far to find the things you need.

So, before you start buying Christmas pressies and treats, take a look around the local area and consider sourcing products locally.

There are plenty of fantastic local producers in the region that we can all take advantage of and you can generally find them by looking around town or by heading to local markets or events.
